From Saturday 8 February to Thursday 9 May will be held the 5th edition of Veneto Contemporanea, the OPV festival dedicated to the music of the present. An untitled edition that stands out for its counter-current musical content and the boldness of its programme slant.
Four appointments between music and popularisation with some of the most appreciated performers and well-known musical popularisers in the spaces of Palazzo Liviano, the Scuola della Carità and the Auditorium Pollini in Padua.
The first concert, on Saturday 8 February, will celebrate the centenary of Luciano Berio, the composer who invented musical post-modernism. Variazione sull’aria di Papageno ‘Ein Madchen oder Weibchen’, Opus Number Zoo and Corale will be performed. The Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto will be conducted by Marco Angius with Francesco D’Orazio on violin. Andrea Penna will be the speaker at the event.
The fifth edition of Veneto Contemporanea will close on Thursday 29 May in the Sala dei Giganti with a concert celebrating the figure of Luigi Dallapiccola, whose Monteverdi’s reinvention of Il ritorno di Ulisse in patria will be performed. OPV will be conducted by Matteo Parmeggiani with Laura Polverelli, mezzo-soprano, and Matteo Mezzaro, tenor. The speaker at the event will be Gregorio Moppi.
