The exhibition ‘Bruno De Toffoli. L’avventura spazialista‘ (The Spatialist Adventure ) is based on an important group of works from the Fondazione Alberto Peruzzo‘s collection related to Spatialism, and at the same time intends to contribute to highlighting a relevant artistic figure in the area such as Bruno De Toffoli. A pupil of Arturo Martini in Venice and signatory with Fontana of the Spatialism Manifesto for Television in 1952, he contributed significantly to the history of Italian art of the time.
The exhibition, curated by Luca Massimo Barbero (open to the public from Saturday 16 November) focuses on nine sculptures by De Toffoli created during the 1950s, from the Intesa Sanpaolo Collection, and on an album of previously unpublished drawings made by the artist between 1965 and 1968, which will be shown here to the public for the first time. The exhibition in the Sacristy is completed by a dialogue with works from the Foundation’s Collection including Dadamaino, Fontana, Vedova, Tàpies and Bonalumi. In particular, a pink Spatial Concept from 1968 acts as an ideal bridge between the three-dimensional sculptures in the Nave and the drawings on display in the Sacristy.
The exhibition will be open in the exhibition spaces of the former Church of Sant’Agnese from Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with free admission.
Special openings: 8 December, 25 April, 1 May.
