SUNDAY 4 MAY Villa Molin opens its doors for a guided tour of the villa and park at 3 and 4.30 p.m.
For the occasion we will remember the day of the extraordinary feast of the INCORONAZIONE DELLA DOGARESSA MOROSINA MOROSINI GRIMANI on 4 May 1597.

Morosina was the mother-in-law of NICOLÒ MOLIN, who commissioned the great Vicenza architect VINCENZO SCAMOZZI to build the villa. Telling her story gives us an unprecedented insight into Venetian history.

A woman of great power and wealth, she left her mark on Venetian history, as many paintings still tell us today. Morosina’s importance was also recognised by the Pope who gave her the Golden Rose, a very prestigious honour usually reserved for heads of state and she was the only Dogaressa to receive it. Guests from all over Europe came to her sumptuous coronation ceremony and she was accompanied by the wife of the imperial ambassador.
The feast lasted four days following a codified ceremony that reached its peak in the 16th century.
