From March 8 to April 27, 2025, the Oratory of San Rocco in Padua will host the exhibition ‘Carlo Mandelli Sculptor (1912-1975).’
Carlo Mandelli was for years among the city’s most vibrant cultural animators. Almost forgotten after his death, the City of Padua pays tribute to him on the 50th anniversary of his death with an exhibition aimed at recovering his memory. The realization of the project was made possible thanks to works from the Colledani-Ciminella collection in Padua.
On display is a selection of small- and medium-sized sculptures, mainly bronzes, ranging from the 1950s to the first half of the 1970s and representing recurring subjects in Mandelli’s production: heads, motherhood and other female figures, male figures, figures devoted to games and sports, animals and religious images. The sculptures also include the bronze Figure acquired by the Civic Museum of Padua at the Fifth International Bronze Competition in 1963, in which it is well perceived that it is the human being that inspires Mandelli’s art.
The exhibition is curated by Elisabetta Gastaldi, curator of the Museum of Medieval and Modern Art of the Civic Museums of Padua, and realized thanks to the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo.
Opening March 7 at 5.30 p.m. Open to the public until Sunday, April 27, 2025.
Hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. (closed Mondays, not holidays).
