22 FEB. - 4 MAY. 2025
Otros

The work of Walter Rosenblum (1919-2006), one of the most important American photographers of the 20th century, returns to Padua. Following the historic exhibition in 1999, this exhibition presents over 110 vintage photographs, videos and documents, offering a complete portrait of his extraordinary career.

A member of the Photo League and a student of Paul Strand, Rosenblum chronicled crucial moments of the 20th century: immigrant life in New York, Harlem and the Bronx, World War II, Spanish refugees in France and Haiti.
During the conflict, he was among the first to document the liberation of the Dachau camp, becoming one of the most decorated photographers in the US Army.
His images reflect a profound humanist sensitivity, focusing on the dignity and resilience of people, never portrayed as mere victims, but as complex and full of life individuals. The exhibition is part of the ‘30 Mignon’ project, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the historic Padua photography group, strongly influenced by Rosenblum’s language.

Thanks to the collaboration with Suazes, the Municipality of Padua and the Mignon association, the exhibition is the most extensive ever organised in Europe on the photographer’s work.
The exhibition traverses his main works, returning to the public a body of work that, although rooted in its time, continues to excite and inspire.
