Programme
Prose and opera unite to evoke the undisputed symbol of modern theatre, the divine Eleonora Duse: the performance traces the artistic and sentimental idyll between the great theatre actress Eleonora Duse and the Paduan composer/librettist Arrigo Boito, a secret relationship defined by Duse herself as “the red thread of my existence”.
The actors will give voice to Duse and Boito by interpreting their letters as if they were intent on writing them, while the soprano -accompanied by the piano- will perform the great opera arias from the same plays interpreted in prose by Eleonora Duse (Traviata, Adriana Lecouvreur, Cavalleria Rusticana, Gioconda…). )
