University of Padua Palazzo del Liviano – named in honor of the historian Tito Livio – was built in the 1930s as the seat of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Padua. The project was designed by the great Milanese architect Gio Ponti, who also took care of the furnishings of the building.
The Liviano houses many treasures inside: the atrium frescoed by Massimo Campigli, the marble statue of Tito Livio by Arturo Martini, the Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art also set up by Gio Ponti and, last but not least, the Sala dei Giganti with its extraordinary cycle of frescoes from the 16th century.
The following will be accessible for the occasion: – the atrium of the Palace, magnificently frescoed, where there is a very large sculpture dedicated to Tito Livio; – the Sala dei Giganti, with its majestic 16th-century frescoes; – the spaces of the Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art, specially created by Gio Ponti between 1934 and 1939 The duration of the visit is approximately 75 minutes.
