The last event of this year’s Padua Opera Season is the traditional New Year’s Concert with which the city of Padua greets the arrival of the new year.
Under the direction of Maestro Francesco Ivan Ciampa, a prestigious maestro who directed the evening at the Verona Arena for the world to see on the occasion of the celebrations of the entry of the Opera as a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO, the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto offers a rich and varied programme, capable of exciting and enthusing the public with famous opera arias from the classical repertoire.
The Orchestra of Padua and Veneto was formed in October 1966 and in over fifty years of activity it has established itself as one of the main Italian orchestras in the most prestigious concert venues in Italy and abroad.
Since 1983, the artistic and musical direction of the Orchestra has been entrusted to Peter Maag (principal conductor, 1983-2001), Bruno Giuranna, Guido Turchi, Mario Brunello (musical director, 2002-2003), Filippo Juvarra. In September 2015 Marco Angius took on the role of musical and artistic director.
