Prato della Valle is dressed in magic with the new ice rink ‘Where ice dances with light’. This year, on the side towards the Basilica of Santa Giustina, a large elliptical ice-skating rink will be created in homage to the Isola Memmia. 1200 square metres, with a protected area dedicated to children learning to skate.
Christmas on ice in Padua is accompanied by Christmas background music and weekly themed entertainment. There is a heated indoor skate change, with the possibility of renting or purchasing helmets and gloves, a cloakroom service, assisted skating, and skating teachers for individual and group courses. It is possible to enter with one’s own skates. For disabled persons, a special patented platform is available free of charge.
COSTS
Admission to the rink is free of charge, skate and equipment hire is subject to a charge – daily cost 10 euros. For male and female students of Padua schools, on weekdays, skating equipment can be hired for 5 euros instead of 10 euros.
Only on New Year’s Eve does the track remain open until late at night.
This year, from 29 November to 12 January, there are little houses near the track offering entertainment and refreshments with a rich gastronomic offer.
