The Magic Flute is one of W. A. Mozart’s most famous works, the last theatrical masterpiece composed in 1791 with a libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder, a few months before the composer’s death.
This timeless labyrinthine fairy tale is capable of entertaining and moving listeners of all ages, telling the story of the victory of light over darkness and of good over evil.
Considered Mozart’s spiritual legacy, the opera brings together sacred elements in an ingenious mix of comic and dramatic opera.
At the center of the plot there is a real war between Sarastro and the Queen of the Night, in which the young Tamino and Pamina, looking for their place in the adult world, are called to take a stand.
The show is created in co-production with the Teatro Mario del Monaco of Treviso and the Teatro Sociale of Rovigo and is directed, set and costumed by Paolo Giani, former assistant director and assistant to Stefano Poda and now at home at the Teatro Verdi.
The concertmaster and conductor is Giuliano Carella.
The Orchestra of Padua and Veneto accompanies an exceptional cast with M. Werba (Papageno) and G. Buratto (Sarastro), together with the winners of the Toti dal Monte competition in Treviso.
