In remembrance of the young Mozart’s travels to Italy, with the series In viaggio verso Mozart the Fondazione Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto aims to trace new listening itineraries based on a comparison of Mozart’s lesser-known repertoire with that of his contemporary musicians.
On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the death of Antonio Salieri, one of the most illustrious Venetian musicians of his time, the review welcomes six musical events that will see OPV collaborate with some of the most acclaimed young soloists on the international stage, in collaboration with some of the most authoritative cultural institutions in the Veneto region.
In viaggio verso Mozart will be inaugurated in Padua on Tuesday, April 29, with a series of Mozart’s Operatic Overtures and Youth Symphonies, juxtaposed with Salieri’s Symphony Il giorno onomastico, as part of a benefit evening to benefit Emergency’s Khan Yunis clinic in Gaza.
Tuesday, May 20, will feature a full performance of Salieri’s Piano Concertos with two established young soloists, Maya Oganyan (2005) and Giacomo Menegardi (2000).
The festival will conclude on Wednesday, June 4, with several Symphonies by the two composers and a rarely heard piece such as Salieri’s Concerto for flute, oboe and orchestra, with soloists two OPV first parts, flutist Chiara Scucces and oboist Nicolò Dotti.
All dates will be held in the Sala dei Giganti in Padua at 8.30 p.m.
