The Open Door Project curated by the XEARTE Association, now in its fourteenth year, aims to return the splendid 16th-century monumental gate San Giovanni (1528) by architect, painter and stage designer Giovanni Maria Falconetto (Verona 1468 – Padua 1535) to the city and its citizens.
Over the centuries, Porta San Giovanni has represented a place of passage, transit, comings and goings… taking on an added value in recent years: the possibility of also being a space that can be used for exhibitions, installations, projections, events… to the point of becoming a meeting point for workshops, debates, conferences, musical moments, dance and poetry.
The 14 scheduled exhibitions will alternate approximately every 15 days from March to November, presenting works of painting, sculpture, graphics and photography by some seventy national and international artists, also hosting four group exhibitions.
During the exhibitions, the artists will also offer performances, workshops, and moments of music and poetry.
The first exhibition will see artist Valeriano Lessio, presenting his works in ‘Abstract Dynamism’, from 6 to 20 March, with Inauguration on Saturday 8 March at 6 pm. On 14 March at 4.30 p.m., he will hold an art workshop on the themes of colour and perspective in the abstract.
